Glycated Myoglobin

Hypothesis paper that glycated myoglobin impairs muscular oxygen use, compounding insulin resistance in type II diabetes.

The glycated myoglobin paper was the second medical hypotheses paper of ours to be published. This paper basically states that type II diabetes might not just be resistance to insulin. It might be that the ability of cells to use oxygen is diminished. Our theory was that the myoglobin responsible for transporting oxygen into muscle tissue become so wrapped in glycogen that oxygen isn't properly transported. This has a knock-on effect where exercise is much more difficult, worsening attempts to reach healthier weights.
